Your website stats allow you to discover how visitors are getting to your website and what they’re doing once there.
Begin by signing up for a free Google Analytics account. Once setup (not difficult), you can copy a snippet of code (don’t freak out…it’s just a little text) that you or your webmaster can paste into your WordPress admin panel.
Once Google Analytics is on your website, it begins automatically collecting data. Give it a month to gather enough information to make it worth your while to review. Then, you can login to your Google Analytics account and see what’s been happening on your website.
Here are some of the most important things you’ll learn from your web stats:
- Number of visitors
- Number of page views
- Average time on your site
- Percentage of new visits
- Pages most often viewed
- Search engines used to find you
- Keywords used to find you
When you can analyze, you can understand behaviors. And when you understand behaviors, you can make adjustments to attract more website visitors and move them forward to the next step in your sales funnel process.
